Employees honored at 40th annual awards and recognition ceremony May 10

  • Keith Craswell gets well-deserved recognition for his 50 years of teaching at Western.
  • Congratulations to this year's Presidential Exceptional Effort Award winners!
  • The WWU Band got the morning ceremony off right with the tuneful stylings of Parliament and the Jackson 5.
  • WWU Music Dept. quartet "The Sound Four" did a fabulous job with renditions of "I Only Have Eyes for You" and "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing."

As part of the Employee Recognition Ceremony on May 10, WWU President Sabah Randhawa gave out his annual President’s Exceptional Effort Awards. This year, President Randhawa received 95 nominations for the 8 awards, with the following employees being honored this year: Austin Cooper from Academic Budget and Administration; Linda Flanagan from the English Department; Viva Barnes from Anthropology; Bob Putich of the Student Business Office; Debby Cwalina from Human Resources; Karl Klokkevold of the Viking Union; Amelia Cave from Prevention and Wellness Services;  and Barbara Sandoval from the President's Office (see right for photos). 

Western's faculty and staff were also honored for their years of service to Western (including Mathematics' Keith Craswell, who has taught at Western for an astounding 50 years), recent retirees were recognized, and those who have recently passed were  remembered.
