Delegation from Chungbuk National University visits WWU

Western Washington University officials welcomed a delegation from Chungbuk National University on Monday, Aug. 24. Provost Brent Carbajal met with Chungbuk National University President Yeo-Pyo Yun. Also attending the meetings from WWU were Francisco Rios, dean of Woodring College of Education, and Earl Gibbons, vice provost of Extended Education.

Among the purposes of the visit was the signing of an academic cooperation agreement between the two institutions. The agreement outlines several areas of cooperation the two institutions will explore, including CBNU students studying overseas at Western through Extended Education’s Language and Culture Programs, the potential of student and faculty exchanges, and cooperation in other academic activities.

CBNU students will be studying at Western through the Intensive English Program this fall as a first step in the collaboration.

Western, often in conjunction with Bellingham’s Sister Cities Association, has sponsored programs with Korean partners for the past 10 years and has brought hundreds of Korean students for educational programs.
