Personal holidays must be used by Dec. 31

All permanent classified and professional staff employees of Western Washington University must use their 2013 personal holiday by Dec. 31, 2013. The personal holiday does not roll over into the next calendar year, so if it is not used, it is lost. Employees will accrue another personal holiday for the 2014 calendar year that will be available as of Jan. 1.

Employees should check their leave balances prior to submitting a leave request to make sure their personal holiday has not already been used in 2013. Leave balances are noted on the bottom of earnings statements or in Web4U.

If a personal holiday is available, employees should submit a Departmental Leave Request form to supervisor for approval prior to using.

Upon supervisor approval of request, employee must submit leave under PER (personal holiday) on timesheet. Approvers should make sure that employees and supervisors understand the difference between personal holiday and personal leave day and report appropriately.
