WWU’s Rich Brown Earns Prestigious Kennedy Center American College Theatre Award

Western Washington University Professor of Theatre Arts Rich Brown has received the Distinguished Leadership Award for the Region 7 Devising Initiative from the Kennedy Center’s National Awards Committee.

Rich BrownBrown is the devising coordinator for the region as well as the national devising coordinator. He has been teaching acting and devising at Western for 13 years.

Brown received the award with the theatre company Blessed Unrest for running a devising initiative that invited students from other universities to present original pieces of work.

“I’m excited because this award recognizes what we’ve built here at Western,” Brown said. “We are nationally known as having one of the best undergraduate devising programs in the country.”
