Lucas Minor named Sodexo Hero of Everyday Life

Lucas Minor, marketing coordinator for University Dining and a 2007 graduate of Western Washington University, has been recognized as a Sodexo 2011 Hero of Everyday Life. Luke and his wife, Anna, will travel to Washington, DC, June 7 to 10 to participate in the program and attend the award dinner on June 9. As part of this recognition, Luke will name a charity of his choice to be awarded $5,000.

Luke was nominated by Lisa Philbrook, Dining Services' director of marketing and strategic development, and she will join Luke and Anna at the award dinner.

Lucas Minor's dedication to service is evident in his prolific volunteer work. He donates a significant portion of his time and energy to the local food bank and mentors a local boy through Big Brothers, Big Sisters. For the last three years, he has served as a team leader for his volunteer crew and works tirelessly to sort and distribute food donations on a weekly basis. Through his work at Sodexo, Lucas has coordinated Sodexo Helping Hands Across America, this year collaborating with the student group Veterans Outreach Center and Residence Life. Together, they collected over 1,000 pounds of food for the community's homeless veterans.
