Journalism's Maria McLeod wins 2019 Robert J. DeMott Short Prose Contest

Associate Professor of Journalism Maria McLeod has been announced as the winner of the 2019 Robert J. DeMott Short Prose Contest. She won $1,008.15 and her prose poem “The Meaning of Marriage” will be published in Quarter After Eight, an annual literary journal put together by the Creative Writing Program at Ohio University and supported by a grant from the Ohio Arts Council.

Maria’s poem was chosen by contest judge Thisbe Nissen, the author of three novels and an award-winning short-story collection. Nissen is an Associate Professor of English at Western Michigan University. For more information on the award, go to http://www.quarteraftereight.org/contest.html.
