Joseph Trimble selected for committee to monitor upcoming National Children's Study

Joseph E. Trimble (Psychology/WCE) recently was selected to be a member of the 10- to 12-person Independent National Children's Study Monitoring and Oversight Committee. The committee will monitor National Children's Study data and the safety of study participants.

The National Children's Study will examine the effects of environmental influences on the health and development of 100,000 children across the United States, following them from before birth until age 21. The goal of the study is to improve the health and well-being of children.

The study will take a number of natural and man-made environmental, biological, genetic and psychosocial factors into account as environmental influences, according to the study's website. Researchers will study children through their different phases of growth and development, thereby increasing their ability to ascertain what role these factors have on health and disease. Ultimately, the goal of the National Children's Study is to to form the basis of future child health guidance, interventions and policy.
