Costello, Eaton present at Northwest Indian College summit

Tim Costello, director of the Center for Service-Learning at Western Washington University, and Marie Eaton, a professor at Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies, presented "Rural Kenya: International Service Learning and Authentic Collaborative Partnerships" at the Northwest Indian College 4th Annual Summit on Indigenous Service Learning on Oct. 1.

Their presentation described the interdisciplinary international service learning approach at WWU, using reciprocal long-term partnerships and assessment of local community partner needs to create a model for working in developing countries; and how planning for the international site partners’ needs and course learning objectives is an organic and effective way to create meaningful study abroad opportunities for students.
