BPRI submits Call for Proposals

The Border Policy Research Institute (BPRI) invites submission of research proposals, with a deadline of Dec. 1, 2016.  For details, see the Call for Proposals document, available at www.wwu.edu/bpri.  This Call pertains to the 2017-2018 academic year, and support is provided in the form of release time (or summer salary), travel, research expenses, and student salaries.

The BPRI’s mission is to provide evidence-based research to policy-makers that deal with the Canada – U.S. border, and faculty involvement is essential to fulfillment of that mission. Thus far, the BPRI has funded 34 research projects involving 18 WWU faculty from a range of departments, and 15 graduate students have received significant research support.  While funding is available for a wide variety of topics, themes of particular interest for this round include regional energy transportation, human trafficking, border infrastructure investment, and international trade agreements (i.e., Softwood Lumber Agreement, Transpacific Partnership, NAFTA, etc.).
