Article from Jeff Grimm, others published in journal 'Appetite'

An article from Jeff Grimm's laboratory at Western Washington University was just published in the journal "Appetite." The paper was co-authored with a collaborator from Doshisha Uniersity in Japan (Dr. Kenjiro Aoyama) and an undergraduate from WWU (Jesse Barnes).

Together, the three examined how rats respond more for a saccharin-paired cue after one month of abstinence from saccharin consumption compared to one day. This “incubation of saccharin craving” was found to be similar to previous findings with sucrose, cocaine, and other drugs of abuse. These findings have implications for gaining a better understanding of relapse behaviors.

The article, "Incubation of saccharin craving and within-session changes in responding for a cue previously associated with saccharin," is online here. Grimm is a professor of psychology at Western Washington University.
