Alfers invited to Goethe Institute workshop in San Francisco

Sandra Alfers, an associate professor of German in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, was invited by the Goethe Institute, Germany's premiere cultural institution, to attend a professional workshop in San Francisco from Jan. 27 to 29. Together with colleagues from the western United States, she designed teaching materials for high school and university courses on multiculturalism in Germany and Switzerland.

Alfers is part of the Goethe Institute's teacher-trainer network and regularly leads workshops for educators (K-12 plus College) in Washington state. In October 2011, she organized and led a session on the use(s) of contemporary German pop music in the L2 classroom at the Washington Association for Language Teaching (WAFLT) conference in Pasco.
