AACTE to Honor Western's Anna Lees on March 4
The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) will award Professor of Early Childhood Education Anna Lees with the Outstanding Journal of Teacher Education (JTE) Award for her article, “The Roles of Urban Indigenous Community Members in Collaborative Field-Based Teacher Preparation.”
Lees will be presented with the award during the 69th AACTE Annual Meeting Speaker Spotlight Sessions on Saturday, March 4, at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida.
The article provides scholarly insights into preparing new and incoming teachers on how to work effectively with indigenous children and their families within an urban environment. The article uses Indigenous Postcolonial Theory to look into the partnership of community members and teacher preparation programs.
