WWU's 2019 Munro Seminar takes on the future of Higher Ed and Equity and Diversity Issues in K-12 classrooms

Western Washington University’s Ralph Munro Institute for Civic Education will host its annual seminar for civic education on Oct. 22 and 23.

All events are free and open to the public. 

This year’s theme is “ Educational Futures: From K through College.” The keynote speaker is Maria Salazar of Teaching and Learning Sciences and Teacher Education Program at the University of Denver’s Morgridge College of Education. Her address will be delivered at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the Harold and Irene Walton Room of the Mount Baker Theatre. Salazar’s research focuses on transformative teacher preparation with a focus on humanizing pedagogies, equitable and effective teaching, and college access and success for LatinX students.

The seminar will also feature panels on WWU’s campus on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The program for the panels is as follows:
