Next 'Writing More Effective Proposals' Workshop Set for Feb. 3

Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) is pleased to once again offer workshops designed to help faculty and staff write more effective proposals to external agencies.   Workshops will provide information and support to faculty and staff in a number of research related areas.  A variety of workshops are offered each quarter.  The sessions are intended to be interactive and are meant to build a community for those involved in writing proposals. Our workshops this quarter will use focus on preparing and submitting proposals to the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Our third workshop will take place on February 3rd from 12-1pm in Miller Hall, room 258.

Dr. Edward Geary will lead this presentation on Writing Successful NSF Grant Proposals.  Dr. Geary is the Director of WWU’s Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education (SMATE) program.   He is the lead PI on two current NSF grants and is a former NSF Program Director. He will cover topics such as the organization of NSF, preparation of a competitive proposal, NSF’s merit review criteria, and how proposals are evaluated.

Our winter quarter workshop series will conclude on February 10th, with a presentation by Ron Marks, professional development specialist. The topic of the final workshop for the quarter is time management, and in particular, finding ways to carve out the necessary time to submit an effective proposal.

All of our workshops this quarter will take place in Miller Hall, room 258 from 12-1pm.  Graduate students and all faculty are encouraged to attend.  If you would like to be added to the email list for workshop information, please contact the RSP Program Coordinator, Coco Besson, at coco.besson@wwu.edu.
