Legally permissible activities for faculty and staff
Matt Jarrell, the 2009-2010 Associated Students president, continues his 'Talk Time' sessions this afternoon at 4 p.m. in Academic Instructional Center West Room 210.
Through Oct. 22, Jarrell is holding sessions for each college at Western Washington University. All are invited to attend and share their thoughts with the AS president.
Officials with the Washington State Department of Personnel will be on campus Oct. 20 to 22 to teach a handful of workshops. To register, contact Rachael Stich at (360) 664-1932 or rachaels@dop.wa.gov.

Change Management: Finding the “Up” in Upheaval
The fall commencement ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. Departments are asked to submit names of participating faculty members no later than Dec. 1 by e-mailing Jana Schueler at jana.schueler@wwu.edu or by calling her at (360) 650-3701.

Eleven pay stations are now in operation throughout campus. One operates all hours, eight operate at night (from 4:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.) during the week and all day on weekends, and two operate during the day Monday through Friday.
The new machines are replacing the older, eight-year-old models that no longer met industry standards and had parts that were discontinued. The new machines take coins, dollar bills and credit cards.

WWU employees who walk, bicycle, share a ride or ride the bus to work at least twice from Oct. 18 to 31 and enter the Fall state-wide Wheel Options promotion could win a trip to Rome for two, including airfare, lodging and a Rick Steves Best of Rome seven-day tour.
Every WWU staff or faculty employee who participates by logging at least two non-drive-alone trips to work between Oct. 18 and 31 will receive a two-for-one Amtrak Cascades coupon to use through next May.

This year, the Faculty & Staff Wellness Program has a new but familiar face. The Wellness Program has moved from the Center for Healthy Living and is now being administered by Human Resources.
Changes have been made to the program to keep what worked and change what didn’t. The program also has been expanded; programs available include:
High Street will be partially imposed upon on from roughly 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12. A lift truck will occupy part of the street in connection with the Wilson Library construction. Traffic should be able to pass by each other, but it will be tight. Those performing maintenance, making deliveries or performing other tasks in the area should avoid parking across the street. The contractor will block it off early in the morning.
The Public Employees Benefits Board Program recently mailed 81,000 letters to subscribers requesting verification of dependent eligibility for state-subsidized health benefits.
