Commencement activities begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in Carver Gym and the Science, Mathematics and Technology Education Building on campus. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and is followed by the Memory Walk, which concludes at approximately noon.

All academic and administrative units are asked to avoid activity that would conflict with commencement.

Human Resources has removed all names from the list of employees who are eligible to receive shared leave in accordance with RCW 41.04.650. No one is need of shared leave at this time.

Employees may donate vacation leave, accrued sick leave and personal holiday leave as long as the donations don’t cause them to fall below the minimum balances. Leave donation forms are available in e-form version at http://esign.wwu.edu/forms/HR/shared_leave5.aspx.

Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed that flags at all Washington state agency buildings be lowered to half-staff Thursday, Nov. 12, in memory of U.S. Army Specialist Aaron S. Aamot of Custer. Aamot was killed last week in Afghanistan when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Thursday, or first thing Friday morning, Nov. 13.

The Faculty & Staff Wellness Program has moved from the Center for Healthy Living and is now being administered by Human Resources. Programs available include lunchtime fitness activities, Weight Watchers on Campus, fitness and nutritional advice, Lunch ‘n Learn sessions, free fitness assessments, confidential one-on-one exercise and nutrition counseling and motivation to get you moving or keep you going.

Seasonal flu shots will be given in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13. Anyone wanting a seasonal flu shot must first reserve a dose and time at https://www.mybookingcalendar.com/wwustudenthealthcenter. Faculty and staff members and dependents of staff and students aged 13 years and over must first purchase an $18 ticket at the Cashier's office on campus.

Western Washington University faculty and staff members who have an immediate family member graduating fall quarter have the opportunity to present that student's diploma at the December 2009 Commencement Ceremonies. This opportunity is open to Western faculty and staff only.

Immediate family includes spouse, partner, child, mother, father, sister, brother, mother and father-in-law, brother and sister-in-law, grandparent and grandparent-in-law.

The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12.
