Seasonal flu shots will be given in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13. Anyone wanting a seasonal flu shot must first reserve a dose and time at https://www.mybookingcalendar.com/wwustudenthealthcenter. Faculty and staff members and dependents of staff and students aged 13 years and over must first purchase an $18 ticket at the Cashier's office on campus.

Western Washington University faculty and staff members who have an immediate family member graduating fall quarter have the opportunity to present that student's diploma at the December 2009 Commencement Ceremonies. This opportunity is open to Western faculty and staff only.

Immediate family includes spouse, partner, child, mother, father, sister, brother, mother and father-in-law, brother and sister-in-law, grandparent and grandparent-in-law.

The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12.

The Western Libraries are interviewing candidates for an assistant dean for public services. The person hired will oversee reference, circulation, the Music Library and the Map Library. This is a new position, which Libraries officials hope will create synergies to improve service.

Daniel Larner, Faculty Senate president, called the 2009-2010 Faculty Senate to order at 4:03 p.m. Senators accepted senate minutes of Oct. 12, 2009, along with the standing committee minutes. Senators postponed acceptance of Academic Technology Committee minutes of Oct. 21, 2009, pending clarification of a proposal to "outsource email."

President Larner and the executive are working on a charge for a potential graduate advisory committee that will come to the senate for debate.

Associated Students Productions Viking Union (VU) Gallery will host the first show of the year with “Club Austin” from Oct. 19-Nov. 9 in the VU Gallery 507.

“Club Austin” will exhibit the artwork of Austin Stiegemeier, a Bachelor of Fine Arts student in the printmaking and painting departments.

The annual benefits fair is going on today. Information about the medical and dental plans, Flexible Spending Accounts, Dependent Care Assistance Program and more will be available at the fair, which foes from 9 a.m. to noon today, Nov. 5, in Viking Union Room 565 B and C. Vendors will be on site to answer questions, and information will be available on rates, benefits, plans and service areas. Plus, find information on Life Insurance, Long Term Disability and Auto/Home Insurance.

Western Washington University violist Eric Kean, a viola instructor in the WWU Music Department and a WWU mathematics lecturer, and pianist Judith Widrig, who also teaches music at Western, will provide an evening of chamber music starting at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in the Performing Arts Center Concert Hall.

This all-Brahms recital features the f-minor and e-flat viola sonatas and the e-minor cello sonata transcribed for viola.

This concert is free and open to the public.

Michael Lorenzen, a candidate for the position of Library Assistant Dean of Public Services, will present "Academic Library Public Services in 2014 and How to Get There" from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in the Library Presentation Room on campus.

Lorenzen is the head of Reference Services at Central Michigan University's Charles V. Park Library in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

This presentation is free and open to the public.
