Zipcar presence increases on campus

Western Washington University continues its partnership with car-sharing network Zipcar by placing three additional vehicles on campus for students, faculty and staff ages 18 and older, as well as for members of the Bellingham community ages 21 and over.

The increase brings the total number of Zipcar vehicles at WWU to five. The cars are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new Zipcars have designated parking spots located near Campus Services (Lot 23V) and Administrative Services Center (Lot 32G) for pick-up and return. Two additional Zipcars are still located near the PAC (Lot 11G).

WWU students, faculty and staff can join for $15, with rates for Zipcar vehicles on campus starting as low as $7.50 per hour and $69 per day. After the first year, members pay an annual membership fee of $25. Gas, insurance and up to 180 miles of driving per day are included in Zipcar rates, and cars can be reserved for as little as an hour or up to seven days. WWU students, faculty & staff, and community members can join Zipcar at www.zipcar.com/wwu.

This quarter, Zipcar will be wrapping a WWU Zipcar with the university logo and colors.

Zipcar has established relationships with more than 475 universities across North America. For more information and how to become a member of Zipcar at WWU, visit www.zipcar.com/wwu or contact Kay McMurren at 360-650-3907 or Kay.McMurren@wwu.edu.
