Young Democrats of WWU to host local Democratic Candidate Forum Oct. 15
From 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15 the Young Democrats of WWU will host via Zoom a local Democratic Candidate Forum for the upcoming election. This event will feature the competitive 42nd legislative district (Alicia Rule and Rep. Sharon Shewmake), a representative from R90, US Rep. Rick Larsen, and many more local campaigns! The majority of the event will be prewritten questions, and at the end, there will be an opportunity for student attendees to ask the candidates their own questions. Elections in Whatcom often come down to just a handful of votes (last year there were even two races decided by a coin toss after an exact tie in ballots) and students have the opportunity to make a real difference this month in determining who represents them for years to come at all levels of government. This is a unique opportunity for students to hear from and ask questions many of those candidates elected officials before the election, and to understand first hand the impact of their local voter participation.
