WWU's Jane Wong wins prestigious James Ray Award

WWU Assistant Professor of English, literary artist, and author of "Overpour" Jane Wong is the 2017 recipient of the James W. Ray Distinguished Artist Award from the The Artist Trust | Frye Art Museum Consortium. The prize recognizes artists in all disciplines whose work demonstrates exceptional originality and is intended to advance the creative work of an outstanding individual artist. Eligible artists representing a breadth of disciplines, art practices, and locations throughout Washington state are nominated for the James W. Ray Distinguished Artist Award and James W. Ray Venture Project Awards.

The evaluation of applications and selection of recipients was performed by a multi-disciplinary panel of five arts professionals. Nominators and panelists were selected by Artist Trust and the Frye Art Museum. This is the largest prize of its kind in the state; as part of the prize, Wong will also develop a show/exhibition for the Frye Museum.
