WWU's Extended Education marketing team wins eight UPCEA awards

Western Washington University’s Extended Education marketing team is celebrating its success after winning eight awards in five categories during the University Professional and Continuing Education Association’s 2016 Marketing Awards.

The marketing team includes Rebecca Beardsall, Courtney Hiatt, Jean Webster, Elissa Mowry, and Mark Kienzle.

“I have an amazing team of creative and hard-working individuals, and I am delighted that their talents have been recognized on a national level by the UPCEA marketing awards,” said Beardsall, Extended Education’s director of marketing.

This year, the team won two more awards than in 2015. Of the eight awards, four were Silver winners and four were Bronze winners.

The Silver awards were given to the “Degree Program Landing page(s) for Weekend MBA,” and “Degree program Landing page(s) for CISS” ad for the miscellaneous interactive media category, “The Literature of War and Homecoming Poster” for the poster category and to the “Outreach for Boeing Employees – Education Benefits Program” for the website category.

The team won four Bronze awards for the “2016 Facilities Solutions Expo Flyer” in the most improved category, “Summer @ Western – Hot Chocolate poster” in the poster category, “Summer @ Western – Event Kiosk Poster” in the outdoor billboard/signage category and “Summer @ Western Squirrel Bookmark” in the miscellaneous print pieces category.

“The Summer @ Western materials were designed by a Western student- Emily Allen, who graduated last spring. The Boeing website was designed by Tor (Gunnar) Guddal, who also graduated last spring and is attending grad school at Western this fall,” Beardsall said.

“There are many fine, very successful university Continuing Education programs around the U.S. It is very satisfying to know Extended Education at Western has earned the respect and recognition of our national peers. I could not be prouder of our marketing team. They have worked very hard to bring Western's message of excellence, affordability, and access to a statewide audience. They are well-deserving of these honors,” said Earl Gibbons, the vice provost for Extended Education at Western.

The Extended Education Marketing team will receive their awards during the UPCEA Marketing and Enrollment Management Seminar that will take place in West Palm Beach, Florida, from Nov. 8-10.
