WWU's Community Engagement Fellows co-hosting 'Learning Together About Community Health' Oct. 17 in Deming

WWU's Community Engagement Fellows invite the campus community to Learning Together about Community Health: Local & Global Connections on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Deming Public Library.

This event is being co-hosted by Community Engagement Fellows, East Whatcom Regional Resource Center-Opportunity Council, Healthy Whatcom, PeaceHealth, Whatcom County Library System, Whatcom Family & Community Network, WWU Community Health Program, and WWU Sustainable Communities Partnership.

Learning Together about Community Health: Local & Global Connections is open to all seeking to strengthen collaborative efforts to improve community health, both within Whatcom County and in communities around the world.

The organizers hope to include community health professionals as well as people working in tribal and non-tribal governments, higher education, non-governmental organizations, and other organizations working for the common good.

The event will be an active social learning space following the Community Engagement Fellows model. This approach generates relationship-building and knowledge-acquisition about each other's work, and reveals opportunities for collaboration.

We will focus around a series of design clinics (click here for a description) on both local and international community health-related challenges.
