WWU X-Prize update: Viking 45 completes one test, will run again at 12:30

Viking 45 is back on the track. The team from Western Washington University competing in the Progressive Insurance Automotive X-Prize competition completed the urban efficiency test this morning and takes to the track for the city efficiency test at 12:30 p.m. today.

The vehicle's progress can be tracked live online on the X-Prize competition website. Live telemetry data includes miles-per-gallon equivalent, fuel cost per mile, fuel comsumption, carbon footprint, speed, track position, greenhouse gas emissions and total distance traveled.

The city efficiency test mimics the type of efficiency testing that occurs in industry/government testing. The city portion of the test is 30 miles (15 laps) with two stops per mile or four stops per lap at a average speed of 29 MPH. Each vehicle must achieve at least 67 MPGe and less than or equal to 300g/mile CO2 to continue in the Knockout Event.

In addition to following the car's performance live online, try these other ways of keeping in touch with the Viking 45's progress through the X-Prize competition:
