WWU water ski team places first in nation in women's jump competition

The Western Washington University water ski team has taken first place in the women's jump competition at the national championships, which are taking place Oct. 22 to 24 at Ironwood Ski Ranch near Bakersfield, Calif. On the men's side, WWU took fourth in the jump competition Thursday.

The women took first place in Division II, with five skiers placing in the top 20. In Thursday's women's jump finals, Alyson Howisey took fourth, Kelly Thees took seventh, Heidi Dimmit took eighth, Kaylin Bettinger took ninth and Sarah Temple took 17th.
