WWU to hold public hearing on proposed transportation, parking rule changes

Western Washington University is proposing amendments to its Washington Administrative Code rules related to parking and traffic and will hold a public hearing at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, in Old Main Room 340 on the WWU campus.

Proposed rule amendments to Chapter 516-12 WAC, Parking and Traffic Regulations, have been filed with the Code Reviser’s Office and published in the Washington State Register.

Western has undergone a comprehensive review of its transportation rules, having recently amended bicycle and skateboard regulations. The proposed amendments to the parking and traffic regulations are associated with this review. Amendments include updates to definitions, a new section on administrative responsibility, broadening of the purpose and application section to encourage sustainable transportation, incorporation of the appeals chapter (Chapter 516-14 WAC) into the parking rules and reduction of the number of members on the appeals review board to better expedite the appeal process. The proposed amendments are available online at http://apps.leg.wa.gov/documents/laws/wsr/2010/09/10-09-076.htm.

Public comment will be heard at the time of the May 26 hearing, and written comments may be submitted through May 26 to Suzanne Baker, rules coordinator, Western Washington University, 516 High Street, Bellingham, WA 98225-9015. Submissions also may be sent via e-mail to suzanne.baker@wwu.edu or faxed to (360) 650-6197.
