WWU student starts new 'Period Pantry' project on Vendor's Row

Each Friday this quarter, WWU students can stop by the Free Food Pop-Up Pantry at Vendor's Row between the hours of 2 and 3:30 to pick up free farm-fresh produce, nonperishables, and menstrual products.

These menstrual products were purchased through an SEJF-funded project called Period Pantry. Period Pantry aims to distribute free menstrual products to students and to inform future menstruation-equity-related projects at WWU; SEJF is the Sustainability, Equity, & Justice Program, a student-fee generated grant program available to all students, faculty, and staff.

Visitors to the Pop-Up can choose between menstrual cups, period underwear, tampons, pads, or liners. All students who stop by the Period Pantry table are encouraged to take a survey about the experience on their phones or on paper.

If you are interested in getting involved in menstruation equity work on campus, email Haven Johansen at johansh@wwu.edu.
