WWU participating in nonpartisan All-In Campus Democracy Challenge

Washington is a vote-by-mail state, and as a helpful guide, here are some dates to remember during this election season. This coming Monday, October 10th is the deadline to register to vote online or by mail in next month’s General Election, and also the deadline for updating the address on your voter registration. Oct. 31 is the in-person deadline for registering to vote. Oct. 21 is the start of the 18-day voting period and the date when ballots will be mailed out and Accessible Voting Units (AVUs) become available at voting centers. The 2016 General Election is on Tuesday, Nov. 8 and is the date by which ballots must be returned or postmarked. WWU will have a ballot drop box on campus just outside the bookstore entry and ballots returned to the drop box do not require postage.

Western Washington University is participating in the All-In Campus Democracy Challenge during this election year, a non-partisan initiative that recognizes postsecondary campuses committed to improving democratic engagement. WWU is one of approximately 200 campuses participating around the country and one of only four participants in Washington State. As with each election cycle, over the coming weeks WWU’s Associated Students will organize activities on campus around civic engagement.
