WWU National Champion Women’s Soccer Team Celebration Set for Jan. 26

A celebration for the 2022 Western Washington University National Champion Women’s Soccer Team will be held during the Thursday, Jan. 26 men’s basketball game in Carver Gym.

WWU students, faculty and staff will be offered free admission to recognize and celebrate WWU’s 12th and latest team national champion. The Vikings captured the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championship with a 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten West Chester University on December 3 at Interbay Stadium, capping another historic postseason run by the now two-time national champions.

The Jan. 26 basketball game features the WWU men’s basketball team hosting Saint Martin’s University in a 7 p.m. game on WECU Court in Carver Gym. Free parking and shuttle service from the C Lots on south campus will be available to all fans starting at 6 pm.

The event is scheduled to feature a halftime recognition of the 2022 Vikings with player and coach introductions and a highlight video from the season. The first 200 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative poster of the national championship season.

Fans will also have the chance to purchase championship gear from the WWU Bookstore in the Carver Gym lobby, with a t-shirt, sweatshirt and hoodie offered for sale; 20% off on that Thursday!
