WWU KhSA to Present 'Our Hidden Story II: The First Generation' Saturday in the VU MPR

Last year, Western Washington University's Khmer Student Association (KhSA) brought you the hidden stories from Cambodian Genocide survivors, and this year KhSA brings you the hidden stories of First Generation Cambodians.

KhSA will present "Our Hidden Story II: The First Generation" at 6:30 p.m.on Saturday, Feb. 25 in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room. The event will feature three speakers from the Cambodian community who have battled adversity to get to success.

Monika Nuth is a WWU KhSA alumni and Human Services graduate. Holy Chea is a Whitworth University alumni and Program Officer at the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation. Chanira Reang Sperry is a University of Oregon and University of Washington College of Education graduate who immigrated to America when she was 2 years old. There will also be small documentaries featuring sever Cambodian students on campus and their stories.

Our Hidden Story II: The First Generation is a free event but donations will be accepted. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the event will begin at 6:30 p.m.

WWU KhSA was established in 1995 and their mission is to learn, preserve, and increase awareness of the Khmer culture, values, customs, and beliefs, as well as provide outreach to the campus of Western Washington University, surrounding communities, and regional youth.
