WWU Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign

Dear Colleagues,

Each February we promote the WWU Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign to celebrate the ways that you, as Western employees, impact the lives of students through your work each day and through your philanthropy. Last year, more than 20% of Western faculty and staff donated to Western students and programs. Thank you! Our goal this year is to exceed 25% participation from Faculty and Staff.

I encourage you to consider how you’d like to make an impact. If you haven’t done so already, it’s easy to sign up to give via payroll deduction at: https://foundation.wwu.edu/payroll. Imagine what we could accomplish if every faculty and staff member committed to just $5 per pay period?

Gifts from faculty and staff play an important role in supporting student success and show external granting agencies that those closest to the mission of our institution are choosing to invest in it. Your gifts create flexible resources for departments and programs that aren’t bound by the same limitations as state and tuition dollars--such as funding for guest speakers, global experiences, travel to conferences, undergraduate research and of course, scholarships.

As you consider how you’d like to participate, you may wish to read more about WWU’s new brand campaign, called “Make Waves.” The campaign is designed to fulfill two main roles:

  • Inspire more funding for admissions scholarships, study abroad experiences and student research opportunities; and
  • Tell Western’s story to prospective students in a new and exciting way. Both of these goals work in tandem with Western’s Strategic Plan.

You can designate your gift to the department, program or project of your choice. Uzma and I are proud to be investing in a Student Success Endowment to provide funding for high impact learning experiences like the ones highlighted through the Make Waves campaign.

Please know how grateful I am for all you do for our institution. If you have any questions about how to participate in the WWU Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign or how you can make an impact with your gift, please contact Angie.Vandenhaak@wwu.edu or (360) 650-3274.

Sincerely,

Sabah
