WWU cycling team to compete to produce the most watts May 25

RECycling Your Power, funded by the Sustainable Action Fund at Western Washington University, has challenged members of the Western Washington University cycling team to see who can produce the most wattage. The challenge will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25.

Riders will be using the power-producing bicycles from TechnoGym in the Wade King Recreation Center next to the rock wall.

The cycling team will be put into two teams of three competing against each other; the team members will decide who rides when and for how long. The goal: most wattage produced.

The team with the most wattage at the end of the hour will receive a box of KIND Bars.

The RECycling Your Power student grant team spent a year researching appropriate power-producing bicycles and working with campus stakeholders to troubleshoot various quality, design and safety issues to meet campus standards. Two TechnoGym brand power-producing upright bikes and two power-producing recumbent bikes were installed in January at the Wade King Student Recreation Center.
