WWU choirs to present free concert Feb. 22 in honor of Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, the combined choirs of Western Washington University will present "African-American Choral Music: Influences and Traditions" at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in the Performing Arts Center Concert Hall at WWU.

This concert is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature the WWU Concert Choir, Advanced Women's Chorale and the Men and Women of the University Choir, with the WWU Faculty Jazz Collective as special guest artists.

Music representing a variety of choral styles will be performed, including South African Freedom Songs, classical choral music by African-American composers and poets, jazz, spirituals and gospel songs.
