Workers clean up after minor flooding in Biology Building

Workers continued cleaning up Monday after minor flooding Sunday in the second, third and fourth floors in the Biology Building.

The leak was first reported by an employee at about 10 p.m. Sunday. The source of the leak was one of the filtering stations at a fourth floor lab counter, with water running down walls into floors below. It began in Room 450A and continued through the ceiling into rooms 350, 254A and 246.

Custodians and maintenance mechanics responded by 11 p.m. Sunday to begin the cleanup and to set dehumidifiers and floor fans up and running. Environmental Health and Safety identified areas of drywall that need to be removed and Facilities Management workers are removing damaged ceiling tiles.

The leak was discovered by a biology technician working late; without this discovery the damage could have been much worse.
