Wizards@Western to present 'Bugs, Lights and Lightning' Saturday

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, in SL 120,  Chemistry faculty members Steven Emory and Elizabeth Raymond will present "Bugs, Lights, and Lightning!," an interactive science program that focuses on the physical and chemical aspects of light as part of the College of Science and Engineering's Wizards@Western youth science lecture series.

The show is free and open to the public.

Have you ever wondered about the chemistry of fluorescent lights, light sticks, glow-in-the-dark stickers, fireworks, or even fireflies?  This educational show will explore these questions using a series of dramatic chemical demonstrations combined with scientific explanations designed for children in grades 4 - 8.  Emory and Raymond will be assisted by students from Western Washington University’s Chem Club.
