Whatcom Middle School finalist for computer lab makeover

Just over one year ago, Bellingham's Whatcom Middle School burned in a devastating fire that destroyed the building. Now, as the oldest existing school building in the Bellingham School District rises from the ashes, Whatcom has been named one of five finalists in the national School Pride Web Competition Contest.

The contest's grand prize is a complete computer lab makeover, consisting of 25 new computers and $2,250 for the school.

The winner will be chosen by public vote; votes can be cast online at http://www.nbc.com/school-pride/partners/microsoft. Voting ends Nov. 29.

Whatcom Middle School is expected to re-open in fall 2012. For more information, visit the Bellingham Public Schools website.
