Whatcom County Health Department Seeking Volunteers for Contact Tracing

The Whatcom County health department is currently seeking volunteers to be Case Contact Investigators (CCIs) to help trace potential COVID-19 cases.

CCIs must be able to commit to 20 hours of volunteer time per week for at least six months. Most contact tracing takes place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on any day of the week. Contact tracing also takes place remotely, so all potential volunteers need is a computer with a reliable internet connection, a private space away from noise and a phone.

All potential volunteers must complete a Johns Hopkins University online course on contact tracing, available for free through Coursera. The course includes information regarding the spread of COVID-19 and how to investigate, trace and effectively communicate with contacts.

Upon completion of the material, potential volunteers will take a final evaluation which will be requested before an interview is conducted.
