Western's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program Running February 8 to April 15

Students from Western Washington University (WWU), Whatcom Community College (WCC) and community volunteers will offer free tax assistance in a virtual format from Feb. 8 to April 15.

Sponsored by WWU’s Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Society in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, the VITA program is staffed by students from WWU, WCC, and other volunteer members of the community. The VITA program helps low- and moderate-income taxpayers electronically prepare their tax returns.

Western Washington University’s Virtual VITA site will be open from Feb. 8 to April 15. The VITA site will be closed for WWU’s final’s week and spring break (Monday, March 15 – Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20 – Monday, March 29). WWU’s VITA will also be closed on Presidents day – Monday, Feb. 15. Western’s site is open four days a week, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Additional information on how to sign up for VITA tax service will be posted on the WWU Beta Alpha Psi website’s VITA page at: vitawwu.org during the first week of February. For any questions, contact Ruby LeClair, WWU VITA Coordinator, at vita.wwu.bap@gmail.com.
