Western Washington University to Offer Fall Youth Programs for Grades K-12

Western Washington University will offer several Youth Program for grades K-12 this fall.

Western has been inspiring youth through academics and recreational activities for 38 years. Participants experience hands-on learning and gain exposure to a college campus under the instruction of Western’s high-quality educators.

The following programs are being offered this fall:

Computer Science Club (Grades 6-8)

Saturdays, October 5 - November 23 | 9:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

$220 to register ($20 discount for early bird, Western faculty and staff)

Video Game Design with Scratch: Students in grades 6-8 explore the world of coding with Scratch, a programming language used to create interactive stories, games and animations. Participants design and code their own cooperative video game. No previous coding experience required.

Computer Science Club (Grades 9-12)

Saturdays, October 5 - November 23 | 12:45-3:15 p.m.

$260 to register ($20 discount for early bird, Western faculty and staff)

Video Game Design with Unity: Students in grades 9-12 are invited to jump into an immersive three-dimensional world of their own creation with Unity, learning to create professional-quality 3-D games for any platform. No previous coding experience required.

Kids Night Out @ Western (KNOW) (Grades K-5)

Session 1: Friday, October 11 | 6-9 p.m.

Session 2: Friday, November 8 | 6-9 p.m.

Session 3: Friday, December 13 | 6-9 p.m.

$50 (per session) to register ($10 discount for Western faculty and staff)

Students in grades K-5 join us on Western's campus to explore a different STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) theme each session, with hands-on activities, engaging lessons and group activity time.

GEMS Night Out (Girls in Engineering, Math & Science) (Grades 3-8)

Session 1: Friday, October 25 | 6-9 p.m.

Session 2: Friday, November 22 | 6-9 p.m.

$50 (per session) to register ($10 discount for Western faculty and staff)

Girls in grades 3-8 join a whole community of GEMS for an empowering evening on Western's campus to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) topics.
