Western to launch new Museum Studies minor this fall

This fall, Western is launching a new minor in Museum Studies. The Museum Studies Minor examines the intersections of art with the public sphere in practical and theoretical terms, with a commitment to explore the social dimension of museums. Grounded in art history, the interdisciplinary minor will help majors of any discipline step into careers paths such as curator, assistant curator, museum educator, gallery attendant, collections assistant, museum administration, docent, or preparator.

Students will receive the core applied training and conceptual coursework to become a museum professional. They will also gain valuable hands-on preparator experience working in the galleries on campus; and organizing student, local, regional, and national artist exhibitions.
