Western to demo software that allows polling via cellphones, tablets

Western Washington University is piloting new software this spring that allows anonymous polling of students using their cell phones. Western's Academic Technology and User Services is purchasing a limited number of accounts of PollEverywhere for use.

The software gathers instant classroom feedback from cell phones, smart phones and laptops via texting or web access. The results of open-ended and multiple-choice questions are collected instantly and can be displayed to the class from a browser or within PowerPoint.

A public demonstration of the software will be made during the Digital Media Forum at 4 p.m. April 11 in the PAC Mainstage Theatre. For more information on how this software works, see http://www.polleverywhere.com/#how_it_works.

Those who would like to participate in the pilot or who want more information should contact John Farquhar at (360) 650-6538 or john.farquhar@wwu.edu.
