Western student to show live music photography downtown

Kevin Lowdon, a music photographer and BFA student at Western Washington University, is putting on an exhibition called “SoundCheck: 2 Years of Live Music” at Make.Shift Art Space in downtown Bellingham from May 27 to 31.

The exhibit features 24 images selected from work Lowdon has done with various musicians, music festivals and publications in the past two years, including Summer Meltdown, Chinook Festival, What’s Up Magazine, The Stranger, Cascadia Weekly and Maximum Rock N’ Roll. The selected photos, printed and framed in Bellingham, represent the spirit of live music and the last two years of Lowdon's documentation.

Featured musicians and bands include Wild Throne, The Palisades, Pickwick, No-Fi Soul Rebellion, Geographer, Uh Oh, Nardwuar and the Evaporators, Agonizer, Cody Beebe & The Crooks, Polecat, March Fourth Marching Band, True Spokes, Daniel Kirkpatrick and the Bayonets, Robert Jon & The Wreck, Ben Union, The Local Strangers, Whiskey Syndicate and more.

“My work is about their mission, to promote the local music community and my own desire to help visually present that message through photography,” Lowdon said.

The exhibition is designed to give back to music community and show Lowdon's deep appreciation for all the bands, musicians, music festivals, and publication that are part of the local music scene.
