Western, Squalicum High School to hold concert Nov. 14

Western Washington University’s Wind Symphony will hold a fall concert at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 in Western’s Performing Arts Center Concert Hall.

Squalicum High School’s Women’s Choir, under the direction of Andy Marshall, will perform alongside Western’s Wind Symphony and conductor Christopher Bianco.

The performance will include a new transcription of “Ara Batur,” the 2008 hit from Icelandic band Sigur Ros. The evening program will also include traditional works by J.S. Bach and American composer Frank Ticheli, and the second half of the program will feature “Symphony for Band” by Morton Gould.

The concert is free and open to the public, and Bianco said he is enthusiastic about the eclectic programming.

“It's going to be fantastic to feature women's voices from one of our region's best choral programs,” Bianco said of Squalicum High School’s Women’s Choir. “I think everybody will find something to enjoy in this performance.”
