Western Shows Strong Support for Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the Combined Fund Drive launched a special relief fund to gather support from across the state.   The results of that campaign are in and demonstrate clearly the caring spirit of the Western community and our willingness to help our neighbors near and afar.

Here are some results to share with you:

·         Washington state employees raised a total of $28,596.

·         Western Washington University raised $5,640 of that total, accounting for 20% of all donations through this special drive and the most money raised by any state agency.

·         A total of 81 individuals donated on behalf of Western.  Our donors included employees, students, alumni, and parents/friends of Western.

·         The highest single donation ($1000) in the relief campaign was from a graduate of Western and one of the two second highest donations ($500) was from a Western employee.

Thank you for showing your support during this tragic time and for lending a helping hand to others in need.   It is through your actions and giving that the lives and circumstances of so many will be improved.
