Western’s Summer Session open to the community

Western Washington University will open its campus for Summer Session to community members of Whatcom and Skagit counties.

Summer Session enables community members to take classes at Western without the requirement of admission. Summer Session provides access to more than 500 on-campus courses, 80 online courses, and a variety of field and travel options.

There are two general sessions with different start and end dates. Classes that are part of the six-week session run June 25–Aug. 2. Classes that are part of the nine-week session run June 25–August 23. The normal academic year has 11-week quarters, so most summer classes are offered in a concentrated format.

With smaller class sizes, students have the opportunity for more faculty interaction. Current and recently graduated high-school students are also able to try out courses, introducing them to the campus lifestyle while getting a head start on earning college credit.

Registration for community members not admitted to Western begins May 13 and is open until July 1. Prior to registration, an online application must be completed and submitted to the registrar’s office.
