Western’s Outreach and Continuing Education wins Marketing Excellence Awards

Western’s Outreach and Continuing Education (OCE) Marketing Department won five UPCEA (University Professional and Continuing Education) Marketing Awards this summer. The team has won a total of 28 marketing excellence awards since 2015.

The awards include:

  • Silver winner in the miscellaneous interactive media category – “Everett Interactive Tour”
  • Silver winner in the miscellaneous print pieces category– “SEA Summer T-Shirt
  • Silver winner in the transit category – “Summer Bus Ads” 
  • Bronze winner in the most improved campaign category - “WesternOnline - New Look”
  • Bronze winner in the mixed media campaign category – “Here You Can Campaign”

“While winning awards is always a wonderful feeling, this year’s wins were particularly special because two of the projects submitted were in collaboration with our campus partners,” said OCE Communications Consultant Amanda Robertson. “There is so much talent here on campus, and we are all working together towards a common goal which shows in the end product.” 

The team has made great strides toward more cross-functional collaboration with the formation of ERMT (External Recruitment Marketing Team) which includes representatives from Admissions, University Communications and Web Tech.  The team was nominated for a Presidential Award this year which further supports that collaboration is a winning initiative.

Robert Squires, OCE Vice Provost, commended the team on its hard work and excellence.

“I am excited that the team continues to build on its successes with our colleagues across campus. Western stands to benefit a great deal from pooling talents in this area, and we are looking forward to further collaboration in the coming year,” Squires said.

“I feel so fortunate to work with an extremely talented group of individuals who are committed to their work and to Western and its mission. I’m thrilled that the OCE marketing team, once again, has been recognized for its creativity and professionalism,” said Rebecca Beardsall, senior director of Marketing, Publishing and Conferences at OCE. “Many thanks to Amanda, Megan, Fabrice, Layne, Jean, Mark, Jesse, and our many students who bring collaboration and innovation to Western’s marketing efforts.”
