Western’s Graduating Studio Art BFA Cohort to Exhibit Work at Western Gallery

The 2017 senior cohort of Studio Art Bachelor of Fine Arts (“BFA”) candidates exhibit their work in the Western Gallery from May 18 – June 10. The exhibition, “Corporeal,” features works by Jessica Bloom, Margaret Carr, Renée Cheesman, Kaitlin Howland, Vian Nguyen, Eleanor Ortland, Caroline Paulson, Kam Peck, and Dylan Vogel.

An opening reception is planned for May 25.

In “Corporeal,” each artist displays a critical self-awareness of their genre, actively testing the limits of what their medium affords, according to curator Laurie White.

“The work in the exhibition spans a range of media, including painting, photography, sculpture, and installation – “celebrating the diversity of practices resulting from the year-long BFA program,” White said.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. The Western Gallery – part of the College of Fine and Performing Arts at Western – is located in the Fine Arts Building. The gallery is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

Free parking is available in certain lots on weekends; weekday parking permits are available for visitors by arrangement. Information about visiting and parking is available at cfpa.wwu.edu/parking, by calling (360) 650-2829, or via email at western.gallery@wwu.edu.
