Western’s Center for Community Learning Partners with PBS to Offer Virtual Event on Women’s Right to Vote

Western’s Center for Community Learning — in partnership with PBS — invites students, faculty, staff, and community members to join a virtual screening and lively discussion about the unsung leaders and deep controversies of the women’s suffrage movement explored in The Vote. The two-part documentary is a production of American Experience, the award-winning PBS history series, and is slated to air nationally on PBS in summer 2020 in conjunction with the centennial of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

The film producers along with experts from The Vote will host two free virtual events on April 28 and 29. Access to the screenings will be automatically provided to confirmed registrants. Visit the links below for details about the virtual events and to register: ·

3-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28: The Washington Parade of 1913

5-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29: Upping the Ante and Jailed for Freedom

Would you like to host your own screening and discussion with colleagues, students, or community groups? The Center for Community Learning can provide you with links to exclusive The Vote clips and discussion guides.
