Western Partners with Rent College Pads to Provide New Off-Campus Housing Search

Western Washington University’s Off Campus Living Office has partnered with Rent College Pads to provide a new off-campus housing search resource.

Rent College Pads, an online housing marketplace, now provides free off-campus housing search options to current WWU students, faculty and staff. The service will help Western renters compare off-campus housing options, find roommates, find lease-takeovers and link to a wealth of off-campus housing resources through the WWU Off Campus Living website.

“Providing this resource will allow Off Campus Living staff to continue to focus on proactive education, programming and support for Western students while Rent College Pads manages the listing service,” said Julia Burns, program manager for Western’s Off Campus Living office.

The Rent College Pads site features a colorful map of the area surrounding campus where renters can see an overhead view of all properties. Adjacent to the map is a set of filters to narrow down results to a specific selection including walk time to campus, landlord ratings based on Western student feedback and other helpful features.

The main listing page will be open to the public, but all rooms for rent, lease takeovers and roommate listing will only be available to those with a WWU universal login, to ensure that people posting and searching through these pages are affiliated with WWU. Additionally, those looking for roommates will be able to see what Facebook friends they have in common, as another safety safeguard.

“The Rent College Pads platform helps students make safe, informed renting decisions because all of the verified housing options are all in one place,” said Rent College Pads CEO Dominic Anzalone.

Listings on the site are purchased by landlords, who use their custom login to manage their listings.  All those posting and searching for rentals will still visit offcampusliving.wwu.edu to access the site.
