Western participating in the All-In Campus Democracy Challenge; 3,475 voters registered through the AS

Tuesday Nov. 8, is Election Day for the 2016 General Election. This year’s ballot features candidates for federal, statewide and legislative offices, as well as state initiatives and local measures. Since Washington is a vote-by-mail state, ballots must be returned or postmarked by Nov. 8 in order to be counted in the election. WWU has a ballot drop box positioned on campus, located just outside the bookstore entry. Ballots that are returned to drop boxes do not require postage, and all drop boxes will close promptly at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Election results can be found at vote.wa.gov, and the first set of results will be posted at approximately 8:15 p.m. on November 8.

Western Washington University is participating in the All-In Campus Democracy Challenge during this election year, a non-partisan initiative that recognizes postsecondary campuses committed to improving democratic engagement. WWU is one of 209 universities participating around the country and one of only four participating schools in Washington State. As with each election cycle, WWU’s Associated Students has organized non-partisan activities on campus around civic engagement and citizenship. This year the AS registered 3,475 voters during their voter registration drive, which is more than was registered at any of Washington’s other public baccalaureate institutions.
