Western now partnering with career-development platform Handshake

The Career Services Center is pleased to announce the implementation of Handshake – an innovative career development platform - to replace the current Viking CareerLink system. Students and young alumni can use Handshake to discover job and internship opportunities, submit applications, and attend virtual career fairs.

As a result of joining Handshake, we can expect to see a two-to-three fold increase in relevant job opportunities, tailored specifically to users interests.  Handshake provides an intuitive search functionality, as well as easier access for users who will be able to sign on with their WWU login credentials.  A national network of career communities that empower students to have an informed career exploration and job search process is another valued feature.

The Career Services Center will be transitioning employers to the new Handshake platform in early March and students at the beginning of Spring quarter.  The Career Services Center asks our WWU community for assistance in encouraging students, especially graduating seniors, to sign on and complete their profile – an important step to gaining the maximum benefits of the system.

Career services staff will be available throughout Spring quarter to virtually visit classrooms to demo Handshake.  Please look for Handshake information and training sessions for students, faculty, and staff.

As a reminder, employers posting for on-campus or local part-time time jobs are encouraged to continue to work with the Student Employment Center
